About this course

Noel Bagwell presents a basic overview of Trademarks, Service Marks, Copyrights, and Patents. Noel explains the differences between each of these types of Intellectual Property (“IP”), and provides insights about how to protect your brand’s IP. Noel also discusses when and where to file various applications for IP protections, the cost involved, and the extent of protection you can expect to receive.

Noel’s Preventive Law approach to this topic highlights the things you can do to manage your legal risks before they become expensive IP litigation
matters.

Questions answered in this presentation include:

• What is the difference between a Trade Name and a Trademark?
• Why and when should I register a Trademark?
• Why and when do I need to register a copyright?
• Do I need a patent lawyer? If so, how can I find one?
• How do I protect my personal assets from my business liabilities?

Noel has helped his clients, for years, to manage their brand, consulting with them on trademark and copyright protection. Though he is not a member of the patent bar, Noel explains how to go about hiring a patent attorney, and provides questions to ask. This presentation also includes a Q&A session.
